A Project Manager's Instruction/Compensation Event Notification (PMICE) is a communications issued by the Project Manager to the Contractor, which gives rise to a compensation event.

The PMICE can be issued when any of the following situations occur: The Project Manager gives an instruction to change the works information, the Project Manager gives an instruction to stop or not to start any works, and when the Project Manager gives an instruction for dealing with an object of value or of historical or other interest found on site.

A PMICE may be sent for internal review, if necessary.

A PMICE follows a three step workflow: Initiate > Review > Issue.
